A Ray of Hope: On the Path to Cure Ovarian Cancer, a benefit concert starring television star Ray Romano, was conceived by Linda John, an ovarian cancer survivor (and Ray's first cousin) after she went through treatment for the disease. The event was emceed by radio personality Valerie Smaldone and took place at the SVA Theatre on May 14th. It was produced in association with the Sass Foundation for Medical Research, under the guidance of oncologist Dr. Frank Arena. All proceeds from the event and purchases through the online store were apportioned to Mt. Sinai and NYU Langone Medical Center for specific ovarian cancer research projects.
